Petrified Wood Cabochon, Petrified Wood, Pink, Pink Chalcedony
This beautiful petrified wood cabochon is a unique light pink color. I cut this stone from a pink limb cast from Oregon. It's a rare type of petrified wood. This stone was once part of an ancient tree. It looks different colors depending on the light between light pink to white. It's somewhat transparent. Antiquing the inside of the bezel that you form to hold it will help bring out the pink color in the stone. It's more apparent in person than in pictures. I shaped this stone in a domed oval that would be great for a pendant. All sides are polished.
This cabochon measures: .76H x .51 W x .21 thickness in inches or 19 x 13 x 5.5 mm.
Stone cabochons can have natural imperfections. I work to limit or eliminate them in the stones I cut but you should keep in mind that natural stones are seldom perfect.
