New Mexico Agate Cabochon, Big Diggins Agate, Teardrop Banded Moss Agate
This is an agate you rarely see in jewelry. It's a Big Diggins agate from a mine in Luna County near Sunshine New Mexico. This agate type is fairly rare especially compared to commonly known types from other locations. It's often a combination of moss and banded areas often multicolored and is one of very few agate types that can have deep black banding. It's a busy agate with lots going on. This domed teardrop has an area of blue banded agate with some black features within the banding. It's moss is green, brown, black and white. This cab is polished on all sides.
This cabochon measures: .95 H x .62 W x .27 thickness in inches or 24 x 16 x 5.9 mm.
Stone cabochons can have natural imperfections. I work to limit or eliminate them in the stones I cut but you should keep in mind that natural stones are seldom perfect.
