Lake Superior Prenhite, Mineral Specimen, Pink Prehnite, Copper Bearing
Lake Superior Prenhite, Mineral Specimen, Pink Prehnite, Copper Bearing
Prehnite is a natural stone that we find in the U.P. of Michigan. It's typically quite small with average stones being less than a half inch across. The pink prehnite in the UP is full of tiny copper crystals which is what actually gives it the pink color. You can see the copper crystals under a microscope and in some pieces even with the naked eye. This piece is unique in that it has three colors of prehnite green, white and pink. It was exposed on the edge of a piece of basalt. I polished all sides of this piece. I can see some bits of copper in the surface of this piece as well. This would make a great addition to a rock or mineral collection! This stone is about 1.94 x 1.2.
Expect that natural stones often have imperfections.
