This is a beautiful Lake Superior agate ring in solid sterling silver. I cut the agate from one Sarah found in Herbster Wisconsin this past summer. It's a rare paint agate in brown and white. The majority of the paints we find are orange so it's really very different to find one that's brown and cream colored. The agate has great banding and a nice fortification pattern. The bottom of the setting is made with my hand forged and formed recycled sterling silver sheet. This piece is big on textures but they are subtle so they don't overpower the piece as a whole. I added abstract and hand carved textures to the inside of the band and a hand hammered exterior that glints a bit when moved in the light. The underside of the setting is also textured in a pebble like design. I antiqued the silver (intentionally darkened) to bring out the details in the setting. I chose a fine silver bezel in a serrated edge design to hold the stone. I really like this stone. It's different and unique but still very recognizable as an agate from a distance. This ring is a set size 8. The setting for this ring measures about 11 mm across. The band is about 3.3 mm wide. Lakers are natural stones that are best viewed in direct sunlight. I like to tell people if it's dark when they receive their piece to use their phone flashlight to view the stone.
Our stones are mirror polished and so there will be reflections in the pictures. We take pictures in direct bright light that simulates what your stone will look like in direct sunlight. Stones look very different in low or artificial light. If it's dark when you receive them you can use the flashlight feature on your smart phone to see what they will look like in daylight. If you are new to semi precious stones please understand that these stones are natural and were found or dug from the earth. These are not faceted altered or manmade stones you see in stores. Natural stones (especially agates) may have features that would be considered flaws in a faceted stone or manufactured stone. Natural stones can have internal fractures, natural holes or geode areas. If there are features we as professional lapidary artists feel may detract from a stone we do our best to describe them in the listing description and show them in the pictures. We charge based on size and quality of the stone as well as market factors. We don’t dabble in the art of stone cutting. Brain is a full time lapidary artist so if you buy from us you are buying a high quality stone made by an experienced professional artist. We are a legitimate small business licensed as an LLC in Wisconsin. Our business mission is to create happiness through our art.
