Ultra Rare Amethyst Smokey Lake Superior Agate in Solid Sterling Silver

This is an amazingly rare stone. It's a banded Lake Superior agate with both amethyst and smokey quartz!  This is one of only three that I've ever seen. I've been holding onto this agate for several years and finally decided I'd cut it and well it didn't disappoint. This pendant is one that agate hunters will go wild over! I cut this stone in an oval with the pattern orientation resembling a spring flower as it blossoms. From bottom it transitions up in orange and white banding into a layer of amethyst that then darkens at the top in smokey quartz. the very top left has a bit of a geode area with some of the interior crystal structure reflecting light when the stone is moved. I crafted the setting for this stone in solid sterling and fine silver with the back of the stone and the ring at the top being my hand forged and formed recycled sterling. The bezel that holds the stone is 999 fine silver. I added texture to the front and back of the setting and antiqued it. Antiquing is intentional darkening of the silver to bring out the patterns in the texture. This is a good size stone measuring about 25 x 18 mm. The pendant measures about 37 x 23 mm or about 1.4 inches tall. The chain with this pendant is solid sterling silver and is 20 inches in length. A piece like this comes along almost never so if you really want it don't wait.
