Desert Bloom Variscite, Nevada Variscite Cabochon, Teardrop Shape, Rare Stone
Desert Bloom Variscite, Nevada Variscite Cabochon, Teardrop Shape, Rare Stone
This cabochon is a natural stone from the Nevada variscite family referred to as desert bloom variscite. It's similar to turquoise but has a different look. This is a domed teardrop. I stabilized this stone. It has a little bit of pitting at the base of the stone under where the bezel would be. I like to use gallery bezels for these teardrops. It makes setting them easy. This is a rare variscite type. The first picture is the best representation of this stones color.
This stone measures: .72 x .48 x .15 in inches or 18 x 12.6 x 3.8 in mm
Stone cabochons can have natural imperfections. I work to limit or eliminate them in the stones I cut but you should keep in mind that natural stones are seldom perfect.
