Baker Ranch Agate Geode, New Mexico Agate Geode, Egg Agate, Polished Baker Rance Agate

This polished thunder egg agate is from the Baker Ranch in New Mexico. These agates are rare and many of them when cut do not have agates or geodes within them. This one has a nice a nice section of deep red banded agate surrounded by gray. These thunder egg agates formed within nodules of rhyolite. Baker thunder eggs exhibit rare colors for a thunder egg which is typically blue or gray from other locations. This agate specimen measures about 1.73 x 1.06 and is about .8 inches deep. I have a bin of these but I don't cut them often so don't let this one get away!
